Matt Kenseth finally gets to celebrate Daytona 500 victory
“It figures that Matt Kenseth would have to wait six weeks to officially
celebrate his 2012 Daytona 500 victory. Kenseth is the guy who rushed past the
fire and rain that turned the 54th Great American Race into a marathon on
wheels.” — Chicago Tribune

Kenseth 4th at Martinsville
In a Martinsville race that went green for much of the first three quarters,
Matt Kenseth had a good car at and methodically moved his way up to run in the
Top 10 and Top 5 all day. A caution with three laps to go began a series of
green-white-checker restarts, and Matt was able to endure for 4th place.

Rain shortens California race, Kenseth 16th
Matt Kenseth battled an ill-handling race car at Auto Club Speedway as
threatening weather bore down on the track. The race was caution-free until rain
brought out the yellow on Lap 124. Kenseth, running in 13th at the time, opted
to pit since he was running toward the end of the lead lap. Unfortunately, an
uncharacteristic error by the 17 pit crew allowed a tire to get away, and
Kenseth was assessed a penalty of restarting at the end of the longest line.
Since the race never went back to green, Kenseth was scored in the 16th
position. He drops to 6th in points.

bumper, but in the end finished 2nd in Thunder Valley. Kenseth led a total of 45
laps.
