2010 Q&A

|
 |
Drew — Why don’t lug nuts dropped on pit lane
during pit stops cause flat tires? I see them
bounce around and would think they do
occasionally get run over. Thanks!
Todd Anderson,
Milton, Wis. |
 |
The lug nuts aren’t sharp enough to cause real
damage. We have dropped the car on them. They leave marks when Matt spins the
tires to leave, but not any damage.

Drew, when will we see the FR9 engine next?
Wouldn’t the Shootout be a good place for it? I
know this is a championship team.
Robert
Durocher, Covington, Ga. |
 |
We will qualify and run the 150’s with the new
engine. There aren’t enough parts manufactured
yet to run it in the 500 or the Shootout as
well.

 |
Could the FR9 engine be available for purchase?
If so, could it fit into a ’67 Mustang GT or ’02
Mustang GT? I’m just joking but it would be nice
though. Congratulations for doing a good job.
Angelo C., Honolulu, Hawaii |
 |
Thanks. It won’t be available for purchase
anytime soon since we can’t even buy enough
parts to build race engines yet!

Drew, with all the changes to the car in the
past few years do you feel NASCAR is still
promoting stock car racing? Seems to me like the
front spoiler and the rear wings are for racing
only and the cars are nothing like what I get
from a dealer. Is this a concern?
Richard Clark, Soldiers Grove,
Wis. |
 |
I think they are still promoting stock cars, but
it is a concern when we get to far away from the
stock car look. I think NASCAR has realized that
and are going back with the spoiler coming back
and some other changes that could be down the
road to help the brands be more identifiable on
the track.

Hey Drew, I’ve read that they’re getting rid of
the rear wing and going back to the spoiler. If
so, when can we expect to see the spoiler?
Chris Jones, Spanish Fork, Utah |
 |
They haven’t officially told us when the spoiler
would be back on the track, but I would be
looking for it real early in the season, maybe
4–5 weeks in.
