With having a week off, what do you do with the
time off? Do you spend a lot of time at the
shop?
Brian Hartwig,

We spent three days testing, and the rest of the time I
spent at our cabin in Wisconsin with some family and
friends.

Matt, at Bristol you were in the top 10 all
night long then towards the end you started
smoking, you pitted, and the announcer said you
were two laps down in about 25th. I am a bad fan
— SORRY #17 team — I turned the channel and
stopped watching. I looked back at the end to
see who had won, and I saw you had come all the
way up to 10th place. HOW DID YOU DO IT? You
have to be the best driver out there. What were
your thoughts?
Ben Davenport,
Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio |
 |
Thank you. We got lucky and the green stayed out
long enough for everyone to make green flag pit
stops, and that got us back on the lead lap.

Hi Matt, I was watching you at Bristol and
noticed that it looked like your car had a
little bit of tire rub, so was there, and is
that what caused the tire to blow?
Alex Geiger,
Woodburn, Ind. |
 |
No, the tire failed like a few others. We’re not
sure why. I’m not sure what the smoke was from,
but we believe it was the splitter dragging on
the ground and all the rubber buildup on track
was making it smoke.

If you were to race a driver from the 1970s, who
would you pick?
Tom
McDonnell, Brookhaven, Pa. |
 |
Richard Petty and David Pearson.

Hey Matt, is there a chance that you will
compete in any Nationwide races towards the end
of the season? And are there already plans for
next year in regards of your Nationwide
schedule? Good luck for the rest of the Season!
Lance Backman, Phoenix, Ariz. |
 |
Yes, we are racing at Atlanta this weekend. I’m
not sure on Nationwide for next year. I would
like to run some, and Roush Fenway Racing is
working hard to secure sponsorship.
