Q Would consider driving a truck, at least a race or so a year? That would be really cool.

A No. Although it looks like fun, right now I stay plenty busy with the cup and nationwide series. Also there has never really been an opportunity for me to get in a competitive truck and race.

Q Hi Matt, when you are out and about, do you ever let Katie drive? Or do you do all the driving around town? And if you do let Katie drive, are you a backseat driver? (or maybe Katie should answer that one!)
Stacy Lueck, Iron Ridge, Wis.
A That’s funny because she was just driving me today. I drive 99% of the time. I am a terrible passenger. As much as I hate riding Im sure she hates driving me!!!

Q What Cup drivers remind you of yourself, as far as driving style and on track demeanor?
Johnny MacAllister, Mt. Olive, Ala.
A I don’t really know. When I started in Cup, or even Busch for that matter, I tried to model my driving style off of Mark Martin and Jeff Burton. They were my mentors and teammates at the time and two of the smoothest and smartest drivers out there. I still watch them and try to learn. They have helped me a lot and I still look up to them and get along with them great even though we all race for different teams.

Q As a former Cup champion, how do you feel about the Penske points switch? I can see where the organization may feel the need to make a move like that, but it seems that Kurt is being penalized for being the former champion in his organization. Would it bother you to have your points taken away as a “reward” for being a past champion?
Stephanie Wood, Westland, Mich.
A Yes and no. If you can help the company out without if being a major hindrance to your own effort, then that’s what you should do. It really only hurts Kurt for the first six races where they go off of last years points. They park the haulers and go through inspection in order of points, so for the first several races Kurt’s team may even miss practice time while waiting to go through inspection. After Bristol it goes to 2008 points and everything will be back to normal.
