Q How is it determined who will drive with an in-car camera each week? It seems as though some people have a camera in their car all the time and others, like you, rarely seem to have an in-car camera. Just wondering how and/or who determines that.
Annette DeChamps, Denmark, Wis.

A Basically, the sponsors determine who has a camera. The sponsor has to pay the network to run the camera, I’m not sure of the cost. If they don’t have all the cameras sold, sometimes the networks will put them in a car that they want covered for free — past winner, sponsor of race or network, or one of the big stars if they don’t have one.

Q Other than yourself, who would you suggest I put on my fantasy NASCAR team. I need a good sleeper pick.
Jake, Menasha, Wis.
A I’m telling you a week late, but I think the 99 [Carl Edwards] is going to have a very strong season. He seems to really excel in this new car; it’s his third win in one already. I wouldn’t quite call him a sleeper, but I think he’s a safe bet.

Q Three flying questions:

• What ratings do you have as a pilot? Do you own any aircraft? And what is your favorite aircraft to fly?
Stephen Nazer, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Post us on your current flying ratings. Also, will Jack Roush let you anywhere near the cockpit of one of those p-51’s? Got to be pretty tempting!
Ed in Appleton, Wis.

I know you are a pilot and I noticed on your site that you’ve got Mooney as a sponsor. Do you own a Mooney, and if so, which one?
Brian Dearborn of Longview, Texas

A I have an instrument rating, and multi-engine rating. I own a Mooney Acclaim, and right now it’s my favorite airplane to fly. I had a Cessna 340 that I also loved to fly. Real fun plane. Jack has offered to give me a ride, but I’m scared to fly with him!!

Q Matt, during almost every race, we hear that deals are being made between drivers. What deals are being made, and exactly how do they work?
Dennis, Ridgeway, Wis.
A Deals are really just made in the restrictor plate races: Daytona and Talladega. That’s usually where someone will try and make a deal to draft with someone. You can’t pass someone by yourself at those tracks. You are wide open throttle all day and the only way to pass is with the help of someone else and the draft. Drivers often work out deals through their spotters.
