Q Do you wear the “Series Champion” patch on your uniform like on Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Bobby Labonte? I don’t remember seeing it on your uniform.
Morris Rivard Jr., Ventura, Calif.

A That’s a great question, I have no idea!!! I know there is a decal on transporter and pit box, but I’m not sure about uniform.

Q Matt, what happens to a driver inside the infield care center after a wreck? Do you get like an automatic full body CT Scan? Thanks.
Larry Ryan, Norfolk, Va.
A If you’re not hurt they usually just check your vital signs and make sure you know who you are and where you’re at!

Q

When the caution flag flew near the end at NHMS and the seven cars stayed out, did your crew give any thought to not pitting then? Wouldn’t it have put you in the lead when everyone in front of you pitted?
Ron Waldroup, Mays Landing, N.J.

A We wouldn’t have had enough fuel. If we would have known how the cautions were going to fall and the exact time it was going to rain, we could have done something different. I think we made the right decisions. When you’re in the back, like some of the ones that finished up front, its easy to gamble because you really have nothing to lose. We thought the smart play was to stay with the cars we were racing for position on the track and in the points. We didn’t have enough fuel to stay out on last caution.

Q Dear Matt, out of all your cars — Nationwide or Cup, any year — what is your favorite paint scheme? I am a fan of the USG and Carhartt cars.
Brian Frey, Stroudsburg, Pa.
A The 2003 DeWALT Cup paint scheme is my favorite.

Q Hi Matt. Two questions, I was wondering what the difference is between the left tires and the right tires on the race track? I Heard you have a Ford GT 40. Is it fast? What other kinds of cars do you have?
Kyle Cortez, Jenison, Mich.
A The LS [left side] tires are smaller in circumference than the rights, and also the tire compound is softer than the rights. There is less load on them so they can be softer for more grip. As for my Ford GT, it’s pretty fast. It’s by far the coolest car I have ever had. I have a Roush Mustang, and a GT500 Mustang that’s fun to drive as well.
