Q Matt, great run at California. You are getting real close to that first win. It appears that the cars are doglegging down the staightaways. Are teams shifting the rear end housings over to one side?
Dick Engel, Milwaukee, Wis.

A We are running rear ends that have both of the wheels pointed to the right, so it actually makes the cars dog track, we originally did it to make cars turn better in the corner, these new cars are very aero tight, we aren’t allowed to work on bodies so we have to think of other ways to try and make them turn better mechanically.

Q I am a big Packers fan but my son Matthew is a Cowboys fan. What can I do?
Carey Linker, Los Gatos, Calif.
A GROUND HIM!!!!!

Q

My wife won’t let my children pick any driver who has a booze or beer sponsor. I was wondering how much say so you as drivers have in what is put on the side of your car.
Chad Smith, Hudsonville, Mich.

A That’s a good question. I think every situation is different, some drivers have no say in their sponsors, or very little if they want to drive the car. Some of the big name drivers probably have some pull; if the team has more than one or two sponsorship offers he can probably choose the one he would be the most comfortable with. When you first start, or if your team’s in need of a sponsor, in this environment you will probably take anything you can to pay the bills and get to the track.

Q Matt, what happens to a driver when he is put on probation by NASCAR?
Abigail Wasserman, Guilford, Conn.
A Nothing!

Q Do you have a contract with Press Pass trading cards for their special cards like sheet metal, autographs, raced-used tires, firesuits, etc. Are they really authentic memorabilia?
Robert Jackson, Ft. Worth, Texas
A Yes, all Press Pass stuff is authentic. They get a fair amount of stuff from us every year and I sign quite a few of them as well.
