Being from the
Northeast I was never much of a NASCAR fan, but
since John Henry, owner of the Red Sox, has
bought into your team, I do catch most of the
races. I have adopted you as my driver of
choice. I find you to be like many of the Red
Sox players, not flashy but puts in a solid
effort every time. My question: Has the new
ownership allowed you to try new things or open
new doors? I know it has increased NASCAR
exposure here in the Boston market.

It got me to Fenway
Park to see a few games! From my standpoint, I
haven’t seen a big difference. I think the main
part that has changed or improved is the
marketing side of things. Also, I think it has
brought some attention to the race team from
people like yourself who maybe was a big Sox fan
and not so much a NASCAR fan.

Hey Matt, I was
just wondering if you know if you’ll have a
different sponsor next year of if you’ll still
have DEWALT.
Zak Kulesza, Fairview, Pa. |
|
A |
DeWALT.

Q |
You said at Bristol that Carl was on an
experimental setup. Now that the chase is here,
will you be able to apply anything and be more
on the offensive vs. defensive?
Clint Haight, Cedar Rapids, Iowa |
|
A |
Gosh I hope so! We
have been working hard to get our stuff better
all the time. Hopefully we will be able to be
more creative and aggressive with our setups and
figure out some new stuff that runs better.

Q |
Matt, is there
anyone in particular (for example, a celebrity)
that surprised you when you found out they were
a fan of yours?
Mike Dory, Brush, Colo. |
|
A |
Not that I can think
of at the moment.

Q |
At Homestead in
November you mentioned with only a handful of
laps left that you thought you had a tire going
down. Did you really think that or were you just
messing with Robbie because it was his last race
on the pit box?
Darcy Goplen, Pine Island, Minn. |
|
A |
No, I really thought I
did, but I have thought that a few times through
the years. It seems like when you running great
or leading something always seems wrong!
