Q |
I watched the 3rd
race in the Chase at Kansas and saw you get
loose and slide into the infield. I am proud
that you got back control and saved it. I was
just wondering what all was going thru your mind
during the wreck and how hard it was to gain
your control over the car back?

|
A |
Thanks. The main thing
going through your mind is how you can get the
car back under control with the least amount of
damage, just trying not to hit anything! It’s
not real easy to save the car, there is a little
luck involved, but these cars are much more
forgiving and a easier to save in a wreck then
the old car. The wing on the back makes a
tremendous amount of downforce, even when the
car is sideways.

Q |
Hey Matt, do you
have your own go-kart track, or do you like
going to one?
Jim Purcell, Orland Park, Ill. |
|
A |
No I don’t have a
track, and I don’t go very often. I get wrecked
too much when I show up at one.

Q |
Hey Matt, it is good to see you back in the
Nationwide car, My question is, was it team
orders to let Carl go by on the last lap at
Kansas because he is in the points battle, or
did he just have the better car? Also is Ross
going to run at Oktoberfest in Lacrosse?
Casey Ohm, Oregon, Wis. |
|
A |
No team orders.
Yes Ross is running
his big 8 car Saturday night in LaCrosse at
Oktoberfest.

Q |
As a mechanic, I
was wondering, do you change your own oil and do
other maintenance on your personal vehicles?
Have you flown your personal plane to Wisconsin
yet, and where do you land?
Kevin Schmidt, Milwaukee, Wis. |
|
A |
Yes, I do change my
own oil and do small maintenance projects.
I have flown my Mooney
airplane to Wisconsin several times. I have
landed at a lot of airports around there, but
usually go to Madison.
