Q |
After someone
else’s wreck does Chip or your spotter tell you
what happened or do you ask? I would think that
as you pass a wrecked car on the track you’re
also wondering if the driver is ok.

2008 Q&A

. . . . . . . .

 |
|
A |
If you’re at a big
track and or the caution is out for a while you
will ask what happened. Usually you can see the
driver getting out or window net down when we
drive by the car, but if there’s any delay we
always ask.

Q |
Matt, what is the
toughest pit road to get on to or off of in the
Cup series? Is it sometimes hard to find your
pit when the whole field is pitting and it’s
real congested?
Jay Wilkins, Parsons, Tenn. |
|
A |
Dover and Darlington
have the toughest pit road entries under green
flag conditions. Dover, Martinsville, and
Bristol have the smallest pit boxes and are the
easiest to get blocked in or have contact on pit
road. Yes there are times when it’s hard to find
your pit stall when pit road is full of cars.

Q |
Matt, I heard that you took one of your personal
cars to a drag strip recently. Can you tell me
which car and how fast it ran? Thanks.
Jane Workman, Rock Falls, Ill. |
|
A |
I ran my Shelby
Mustang GT 500, it would run about a 12.8,
116mph or so. Its pretty much bone stock. If we
keep going out there it could get expensive!

Q |
Hey Matt, I noticed
on the schedule you were suppose to race the
NANO car at Bristol, but when I got to the track
in Bristol you were in the DeWALT. What happened
to the NANO car?
Haden Key, Greenwood, Ark. |
|
A |
DeWALT decided to stop
running the NANO car a few months ago and run
their primary black and yellow paint scheme for
their remaining races.
