Q |
How often do you
meet with the other Roush drivers to discuss
tactics?
Jerry Meek, West Point, Texas |
Past Q&A

 |
|
A |
There is a meeting
every week that is mandatory for engineers and
crew chiefs; sometimes the drivers join in.
There really aren’t tactics to discuss, it’s
more about sharing information like set ups etc.
On race day, it’s pretty much every man for
himself.

Q |
When
you’re traveling
around the country to different tracks, do you
try to take the time to do a little sightseeing?
Mike Fangman, Burbank, Ill. |
|
A |
Not nearly enough. When we went to some of these
tracks the first time we did, but honestly now
we just spend most of the time at the track.

Q |
Matt, my 4 year old son wanted to know what Matt
Kenseth was for Halloween.
Dave S, Illinois |
|
A |
I pretended I was a
race car driver!!!!!! We were at the track on
Halloween, so I didn’t dress up as anything.
Last year Jamie McMurray had a Halloween party
and Katie and I went as Bill Clinton and Monica
Lewinsky.

Q |
We went to the race
in Atlanta, and walking back to the car, we saw
some crews walking toward the airfield. How does
your crew get back home after races out of
state?
Diane Shelton, Suwanee, Ga. |
|
A |
Roush has two 727s
that he flies the teams back and forth with.
Every Sprint Cup driver and team that I know of
flies in some sort of private aircraft. There
just isn’t enough time to go commercial with
groups that big and get back to work and where
we need to go.

Q |
On green flag pit
stops, do Chip and your guys use ovens to heat
the tires before they put them on your car?
Don Peacock, Buffalo, N.Y. |
|
A |
We would if we could.
There is a rule against any type of heating or
cooling the tires including covering them up.
