|
A |
Katie and I usually hang out in Wisconsin with
our families.

Q |
Matt, Congrats on your new contract. I’m glad
you’re staying with Roush Fenway. I would hate
to loose my favorite driver in my first year as
a NASCAR fan. DW talked on SPEED after Homestead
about shortening the race season and I was
wondering how you felt about that.
Bill Sheppard,
Lynn, Mass. |
|
A |
I’m not sure. When we’re in the middle of the
season it feels like it would be nice if the
season was shorter. But on the other hand, about
the middle of January I’m ready to get back to
the track.

Q |
Aloha Matt, I’m fairly new to NASCAR and I chose
you as my favorite driver because of the number
on your car “17”. Number 17 is our lucky number
as this is the date of birth for both of my
children as well as myself. My son Kaleialoha
was born on May 17th, my daughter Kaluameilani
was born on January 17th, and I was born on
August 17th. How about you, do you have a lucky
number?
Nani Maciel, Paso
Robles, Calif. |
|
A |
I
don’t think I have a lucky number. But I was
number 8 when I drove short track cars early in
my career and when I got to the nationwide
series I was number 17 and have been able to
hang on to that number.

Q |
Matt, how many Cup cars does your team have
total, and how often do you guys build new ones?
Dave S,
Illinois |
|
A |
I’m
not sure how many we have. As much as I wrecked
this year we had to build new ones fairly
often!!! We used to build new cars when we had
new body designs or new ideas on chassis design
etc. With the current rules and cars there is a
lot less of that going on, so as long as they
run ok and aren’t getting torn up we will keep
using them.

Q |
What do you think was your highest point of 2008
and your lowest point was?
Dominic Selzo, Southbridge, Mass. |
|
A |
The
highest point was probably making the Chase even
though we struggled most of the year. There were
a lot of low points, probably all the wrecks and
not winning a race.
