Q |
I saw you on TV during the Packers game. How did
it feel to do the Lambeau Leap?
Joshua Kotula, Chicago, Ill.
Hey Matt! I saw that you went to the
Packers/Lions game and you got to do the Lambeau
Leap. How was that? I was wondering do you get
to go to many games or do you mostly watch them
on TV? Thanks and good luck on the upcoming
season.

2009 Q&A

. . . . . . . .

 |
|
A |
The leap was a lot of fun, was neat to hang out
with the fans. We were doing a photo shoot for
ESPN the Magazine and I didn’t realize Fox was
filming it and was going to show it on the
broadcast. It would have been more fun to be
part of the team, score a touchdown for real,
then do the leap!!
I go to 4 or 5 Packer games a year. Whenever
I have time, I enjoy going. Since there’s no
testing this year, I have had a little more time
to take in some games.

Q |
Hi Matt, I can’t wait for the 2009 season
to begin. I’m sure you must be getting excited,
too! What is your favorite thing about Race
Weeks in Daytona?
Cara G, Orland
Hills, Ill. |
|
A |
The whole week is exciting really. It’s nice to
get back to the track after the offseason and
prepare for the biggest race of the year. The
best part is when they wave the green flag for
the Daytona 500.

Q |
Hey Matt, what made you want to start racing?
Rebecca Avila,
Fairbanks, Alaska |
|
A |
I have always been really competitive, and have
always been fascinated by mechanics, especially
engines. My uncles and one of my cousins raced
at a local track in Wisconsin. From the time I
went to my first race I really fell in love with
it.

Q |
Matt, I hope you had a really nice Christmas.
What was the favorite gift you gave to someone
and received from someone?
Mason
Martinkus, Crystal Lake, Ill. |
|
A |
The
best gift was really getting to spend the
holidays together as a family. We all get so
busy it is really nice to have a few days to
just hang out and get caught up.

Q |
How does it make you feel to know that your son
decided to follow in your and your dad’s
footsteps as far as racing is concerned? I know
I think it’s great.
Teri Lawrence, Dubuque, Iowa |

A |
I
really just want Ross to be happy in whatever he
decides to do. Being that it’s racing right now
is pretty fun for me because I feel like I can
help him a lot with that. There’s not much else
that I know or feel like I could be much help,
so It’s fun to watch him learn and race at a lot
of the tracks I grew up racing at. His
performance has impressed me but mostly Im proud
of who he is and how he conducts himself.
