Q Hi Matt, I was at the autograph signing you and Ross had [at the MKFC in December] and got your autograph. In a time when athletes from other professional sports such as the Packers and Brewers charge to sign an autograph and don’t let you bring your own item to sign, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the fact that you take the time to sign anything we bring for free. Have you ever thought about charging for your autograph? Thanks Matt.
Kurt Krause, Watertown, Wis.

A No problem, I really appreciate you attending and wanting my autograph! No I have never thought of charging for my autograph, I really appreciate all the fans and I think anything we can do as drivers to make there race experience more enjoyable and memorable is what we should be doing. All I ask is that if there is a choice in products that you need that you support the sponsors that support NASCAR teams. Without sponsors we can’t afford to go to the track.

Q Hi Matt, hope you had a really nice holiday. My questions is what impact do you think the lack of testing will have on racing this year, for the 17 team as well as the other race teams?
Ed Algire, Abingdon, Md.
A It’s the same for everyone, and really with this car and all the rules they have I don’t think it will hurt. If anything hopefully it will spread the field a little bit and allow more passing.

Q

How do you feel the new NASCAR track testing rules will affect not only you, but all the teams? Thanks.
Bill Sheppard, Lynn, Mass.

A NASCAR hasn’t changed any COT rules, so I don’t think the lack of testing will be a big deal.

Q Matt will you be racing in any of the Nationwide races in 2009?
Lynn McCarthy, Victoria, B.C.
A Yes, at this time we have 12 Nationwide races on our schedule, which you can see here.

Q When you got your pit crew, did you get to pick them out of your friends or did NASCAR assign a crew?
Austin York, Arcade, N.Y.
A The pit crews work for Roush Fenway racing, just like I do. Robbie pretty much scouted and trained our crew for years. Now there are pit stop coaches and strength coaches at Roush that work with them every day.

Q Now that the season is over for the Packers, do you think they made a good choice with their new quarterback Aaron Rodgers?
Rusty Stover, Marshall, Ill.
A I really do, I think Aaron Rodgers exceeded most people’s expectations. I think the offense will be really great for years with him under center.
