Q |
Matt, with Daytona around the corner do you ever
get nervous heading back into the season? And
could you say that Daytona is the most busy week
in the season for you?

2009 Q&A

. . . . . . . .

 |
|
A |
I’m not nervous, but I for sure have a lot of
anticipation and excitement for the season to
start. It’s generally one of the busiest weeks.
We are down there for almost 10 days. Some days
are slow with not much going on, and others
you’re pretty much covered up all day.

Q |
Matt, What if any exercise do you get during the
week? Do you have a routine to stay fit?
Andy Kepler,
Denver, Colo. |
|
A |
I have been trying to get into a routine this
year. In the past I really haven’t, but I have
been trying hard to eat better and have been
working out between two and four days a week,
depending on my travel schedule and when I’m
home.

Q |
Hi Matt, I was just wondering what you think
about Ford getting their new engines? Also how
do you think this might give you and your team
an advantage in the upcoming 2009 season? And
Good Luck!

A |
It’s been a long time since we have had a new
engine that was built from scratch. I’m excited
to get a new one, but the old one is great, so I
think it will take some time to get the new one
to run as good as the existing one.

Q |
Hi Matt I was wondering, have you ever raced in
the ROLEX 24 Hour Race at Daytona? If so, what
was it like? If not would you ever be interested
in participating?
Zachary
Gibbons, Naples, Fla. |
|
A |
I
did race it a few years back. It was a great
experience and I would love to do it again. If I
do it again, I would want to be with a
competitive team that has a shot to win. It’s no
fun riding around 2 seconds off all night!

Q |
My question is, how does the lug nut stay on the
rim as they zip them on and how do they not get
cross-threaded. It would seem like as soon as
you zip the first one on it would tilt the rim
and make it very difficult to get the rest on so
fast.
Ed Adamowski, Ansonia, Conn. |

A |
The
nuts are glued on the wheel, so when you zip up
the first one the wheel actually pulls up pretty
straight. The glue on the other 4 nuts actually
stretches and keeps them on the part of the stud
with no threads, ready to get tightened.
