Q |
Hey Matt, I am looking forward to the Prelude to
the Dream on June 3. This is your 5th year
participating, what do you do to get ready for
this race and how much different are the dirt
cars than the Cup cars you drive weekly?

2009 Q&A

. . . . . . . .

 |
|
A |
I really don’t do anything to get
ready for it. I really enjoy this race as it’s the only experience on dirt that
I have. The cars are totally different to drive and a real challenge. You can
really throw them around and manhandle them, where with the Cup cars you have to
be much smoother and let the car do most of the work.

Matt, has the Roush Fenway team talked about
what was up with the transmissions on the 18 and
24 during the All-Star Race? You brought it up
near the end of the race. It looked like a HUGE
advantage on restarts. Thanks and good luck in
the 600.

We really struggled on restarts. We are
currently trying to work on it and get our cars
more competitive on getting up to speed. It was
definitely a problem for us Saturday night.

I was wondering which race is more impressive to
win in your mind, the Coke 600 or the Daytona
500?

A |
The Daytona 500 is the biggest race of the year,
but to win the 600 was a huge victory for us.
Lot of pit stops, non restrictor plate race so
you had to really drive the car all night, our
first win... so I guess I would have to say the
600.

Q |
After a race, or during the week, do you fly
home or do you stay in hotels/ motor home? I
know most drivers have helicopters that they
away after races and to the track before races.
What do you do?
Alyson Blow,

A |
We generally travel home after the races every
week. At the track during the weekend, we stay
in our motor home, but when the race is over we
sit in traffic with everyone else and either
drive home if it’s a close race, or drive to the
airport and fly home.
