I know that you guys have a great team at Roush,
but Hendrick teams seem to communicate notes and
setups better than anybody else in NASCAR. How
much notes and setups do you guys at Roush
communicate to each other?

2009 Q&A

. . . . . . . .

 |
|
A |
I don’t think they communicate their notes and
setups better than us, I just think their notes and setups are better!!
Communication is definitely not a problem at Roush Fenway. Everyone works very
well together and works hard to try and get all the teams to run good.

Q |
Hi Matt! First of all you are by far the best
driver ever. Had to say it. I live in Naples,
Italy, because my dad is in the Navy. Do any
drivers you know go overseas to see the troops?
Clifton
McPherson, Naples, Italy |
|
A |
Thanks. I really don’t know. I know Jack Roush
went to Iraq a couple years ago. I have never
traveled overseas, but If I did I would love to
go and visit the troops. A lot of us take our
freedom for granted and don’t recognize or
appreciate our military enough.

Q |
I noticed at Sonoma that the cars almost fly up
on some turns because of bumps at the edge. Why
do they have these and do they do much damage to
the car and tires?
Emily, South
Carolina |
|
A |
Actually the curbs at the road courses will help
a tight car turn. Sonoma is a very narrow tight
track, and you need every ounce of pavement you
can find at times.

Q |
I am sure that your life and health insurance is
not quite as affordable as for most people. How
much higher is it based on someone driving 190
mph every weekend?
JR Riggins, Duncan, Okla. |
|
A |
I
have no idea! I do know disability insurance for
us is extremely expensive, but not sure on the
others.

Q |
Do you ever worry about sponsorship for your
car? I know DeWALT sponsorship is up after this
year. I can’t imagine the 17 without DeWALT
being on it.
Kevin Bassetti, Hampton, Ark. |
|
A |
Well, yes I do, but I’m a worrier by nature. I
really concern myself with performance first. If
you can perform good that certainly cures a lot
of things. I am very thankful for DeWALT and all
the friends I have there. It’s been eleven
seasons and hopefully we can do many more
together. The economy has been tough on most
corporations and their advertising budgets.
If you’re in the market for power tools, please
buy DeWALT!!
