Q

Hey Matt, are you in favor of NASCAR shelving the wing in favor of a spoiler?
James Adams, Port Reading, N.J.

Jan. 14, 2010

A I am in favor of making some changes just to change things up a little bit. I feel like the racing was very competitive last year, but it’s always exciting to try something new with the hope that we can get it figured out quicker than the competition and get a leg up on them.

Q I was at the Snowball Derby and met Ross. Cool kid. The security was nonexistent and fans can go right up to the pits. At Cup races, it is much tighter. What is your preference as a driver with a job to do?
Bill Goodwin, Pensacola, Fla.
A I enjoy short track racing and I enjoy what we do on Sundays. If you’re at a race with six or seven thousand people, the atmosphere is always going to be different and a little more personal than when you have one hundred thousand people at a race.

Q

During a rain break, it looked like you were texting. How much do you use the computer, and do you ever read the Facebook page set up for you?
Darlene Hopkins, Stayton, Ore.

A Well, I use the computer some, but I haven’t really been into the social networking thing much yet. I read my emails and visit a few sites, but I don’t spend a ton of time on it.

Q When you get the car out of the Daytona Experience, will it go in the Roush Fenway Museum, your museum, or will you use it to race again? Hopefully you will just be replacing it with another car!
Shannon Sharp, Liberty, Ky.
A I don’t know what will happen to it. If I had to guess I would say it will go to Jack’s museum.

Q What do you do for fun? Do you ever play poker?
Cindy Mleziva, Manitowoc, Wis.
A

I enjoy playing poker with some friends when we get time. I really enjoy snowmobiling and riding my motorcycle.
