Dollar General and Joe Gibbs Racing announced today they have expanded their partnership agreement for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. The Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based retailer will increase its sponsorship to 27 races with Matt Kenseth and the No. 20 team, up from 17 in 2013.

There was plenty to be thankful for during Kenseth's 2013 NASCAR campaign. Winning a series-high seven Sprint Cup Series races was just one of Kenseth’s personal career bests in 2013. His 1,783 laps led were 651 better than his previous single-season high and his 8.7 average starting position was nearly five positions better than his previous best....

Kenseth and his No. 20 Dollar General team wanted to get as many points as possible Sunday and they showed their strength by claiming the pole on Friday and paced both practice sessions Saturday. Kenseth led a total of 144 laps during Sunday’s Ford EcoBoost 400 and finished 2nd behind his JGR teammate, Denny Hamlin, who earned the win.

Matt Kenseth started from the pole at Homestead-Miami Speedway, led the most laps and finished second on Sunday. In the end, the No. 20 team needed the No. 48 to falter in order to win the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title, but it didn't happen. Kenseth and crew finished second in NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup.
